Along for the Ride
Hanging out while your other half is at the convention
If your significant other is headed to a convention in Long Beach, take some time off and tag along for the ride! For the curious at heart, Long Beach is an amusement park of people, experiences and landscapes. No doubt you'll take in our big attractions, bustling Downtown and sandy shoreline, but the smaller distractions can be just as much fun. Try out these ideas for passing the time while your other half is fulfilling his or her professional duty.
People Watch
Grab an outdoor table on Pine Avenue or 2nd Street and watch the world go by. Even better, split your time between both spots and try to figure out why one city
caters to two such different crowds.
Have Tea
Who says you can't have a tea party by yourself? Enjoy your free time in the most civilized of ways, by sipping tea and nibbling on a scone. Try Vintage Tea Leaf on Broadway or Fairy Tea Cottage in Seal Beach.
Learn Something New
Take a cooking class at Prep Kitchen Essentials or a Pilates mat class at one of many local gyms. If your mind and body need a tune-up, sign up for an introductory yoga workshop at Free Spirit Yoga.
Indulge
Long Beach has many spas and salons ready to treat you to a variety of body and facial treatments. And don't forget to drop by a UV-free tanning salon so you can impress your friends back home with your healthy California glow. If that isn't your thing, how about enjoying an ice cream cone, a square of fudge or a funnel cake while overlooking Rainbow Harbor?
Get Artsy
Go searching for a perfectly unique accessory at a vintage clothing store on 4th Street. Or paint your own coffee mug at Color Me Mine on 2nd Street. If you have a camera with you, try capturing the essence of Long Beach on film. If you are especially motivated, take some pencils and paper down to the bike path along Ocean and let the shoreline inspire you to your own masterpiece.
